Popsickl Interview
Tell us about how you came up with the name of your brand?
Well we wanted a name that would implement popular culture into a sick/ill clothing company. So what better name than POPSICKL.
Tell us about how you came up with your logo?
The logo is brand new since the beginning of 2009. The logo stemmed from our original designs (the ones you are seeing). We wanted to have the cartoon feel and represent the popsickl characters in a single logo.
What should your fans/customers know about your brand that they might not know?
Popsickl Clothing is owned by Andrue and Jason. The company began as a passion of ours for fashion and music. We were tired of buying clothes that you see all over the place. We wanted something more fresh and that’s what POPSICKL is. We are an indie clothing line that brings new and different fashion trends together to develop a more original appeal.
What should your fans/customers know about your current line/designs that they might not know?
The characters you see on the shirts have names, Chill Will and Missy Prissy. The shirts are 50/50 and are available in Youth Large, Small, Medium, and Large. I would tell you that they are amazing, but that is something that you would already know from seeing the shirts.
What inspired you to start your company?
Andrue and I (Jason) are entrepreneurs at heart. We were both working in the service industry before beginning POPSICKL. POPSICKL allowed us to utilize our creative abilities and allowed us to have fun and enjoy going to work.
What inspired you to start designing?
The lack of fun and exciting new fashion that we were seeing in the malls and in mainstream retail stores.
Do you remember when you first realized that design/fashion design would be what you did professionally?
When I was able to quit my job to do something that doesn’t feel like work at all.
What can you say that might convince someone to never buy clothes at the mall again?
Malls are for mall rats
